Crosby Canyon: Crosby Canyon Video
White rocks scoured by flash floods is what meets your eye in Crosby Canyon. The interesting shapes and smooth surfaces lead your vehicle, 2-wheel drive or otherwise, toward Lake Powell and through landscapes that look so alien you would think yourself on another planet. This fact has actually been used effectively in several Hollywood productions that turned the very real environment of Crosby into something you would think of as pure fantasy.

Dinosaur Raceway: Dinosaur Raceway Video
There are few things in this world that are millions of years old (other than rocks that is), so when you find something that old it really is worth taking notice. South of Coral Pink Sand Dunes is a section of rock imprinted with thousands of dinosaur tracks from over 65 million years ago. Visitors are invited to ride ATVs or four-wheel drives out to the area and hike around, exploring a world that reminds us we weren’t the first to walk through the deserts of the southwest.

Hog Canyon: Hog Canyon Video
Just a couple miles north of Kanab you can find one of the most beautiful trails in the entire state of Utah. It’s also one of the most difficult. Hog Canyon is a playground for jeeps and ATVs that pushes the limits of skill and endurance. The trail system also includes areas for novice riders, hikers and horsemen, but the main draw has always been the steep sandy slopes that bring off-roaders from around the world.

Mail Drop: Mail Drop Video
This ATV trail takes riders through some of the beautiful lands of Kane County and to the edge of history. Mail Drop got it’s name because this is where pioneers would get their mail, dropped from the top of the canyon on a pulley system. Today much of the area is private property, but the public trails still get close to the actual spot and your ATV trip along this loop will be one to remember.

Peek-A-Boo Canyon: Peek-A-Boo Canyon Video
If you look on a map for Peek-a-Boo Canyon and you’re confused because you can’t find it, don’t worry, there’s a good reason for that. Locals have always called this ribbon cut in the rock ‘Peek-a-Boo,’ but its official name is actually Red Canyon. Peek-a-Boo is a great short hike through a slot canyon that introduces visitors to a cathedral of rock that puts anything man made to shame, and gives a glimpse of Native American toe-holes that allowed early residents to climb quickly out of the Canyon.

Smokey Mountain: Smokey Mountain Video
You would think you were standing on the top of a volcano except for the fact that the calderas are small and there is no lava. That’s really the only difference. Smokey Mountain’s name really says it all. Overlooking almost the whole of the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument, this peak of unearthly fumes bellows smoke in the air from an underground coal fire.
